Bedtime with the #BepanthenBedtimeChallenge

Sleep! Remember sleep? Before I had a baby I really got a lot of that sleep thing. Of course, I didn’t appreciate it at the time. If only there would have been a way to save up some of that sleep for nowadays! When we were asked to take part in the #Bepanthenbedtimechallenge I jumped at the chance. Wet nappies are one of the most common things that interrupt babies’ sleep, so anything that combats that is worth a go in my book!

Bedtime in our house isn’t really a drawn out affair. Eden usually goes to bed around 10pm with Amy and I as we cosleep. Sometimes she naps before that, but often she plays right up until it’s sleep time. With Amy being in hospitl for a bit last week, it was even more important to keep a healthy, happy bedtime s that Eden and I both got much needed rest amongst the stressful days at the hospital.

bathThe first thing we do is take a bath. At the moment we are using goodies from the new Hipp Bathtime range, which is all organic and free of nasties. They have a particular bedtime bath lotion with soothing lavender, so we often use that to create lots of bubbles for our little lady to splish splash in. She’s always loved her baths and can spend quite a while in there splashing around. Once the bubbles are all gone and Eden is all squeaky clean, we get cuddled up in her Cuddledry towel and get her dried off and dressed in her pyjamas with a fresh new nappy and a Bepanthen covered bum! 13524383_10157004825265580_4213130308892507535_n

After bath time it’s time for a book. Sometimes we read her Big Red Bus book (although she ripped it in half a few days ago…), sometimes it’s “The Tiger Who Came To Tea”, “If I Were A Unicorn” or “Mummy, Mama & Me”. We sit in our lovely comfy rocking chair and read and rock, and rock and read until she gets snoozy.  Then we crack out the last bottle of the night and she has a dream feed, which usually keeps her asleep until around 6am.

I always found that if Eden had a bad nappy rash, as she often does when she is teething, it would mean she would wake more often during the night or fight sleep harder in the first place. It would lead to a grumpy baby and a grumpy mummy as we rocked and rocked and rocked and rocked with no nappyresults. Eventually she would tire herself out and pass out, but obviously that wasn’t ideal and she’d be up again in a couple of hours. She was very much teething when we started using the Bepanthen, so I was interested to see how things panned out.

Much to my surprise, didn’t show up at all. Night time was always the time when it developed most, thanks to extended time in the same nappy, but I found that the Bepanthen nappy rash cream stopped this happening. I also found that the cream wasn’t too thick and didn’t stick to my hands like other brands do. It doesn’t feel greasy either, which some nappy creams have a tendency to.

So, it’s three cheers for peaceful sleep and teething without nappy rash in our house thanks to Bepanthen – hip hip hooray!
