So today I went to the Dr to talk about my possible “fertility Issues”. The Dr was very understanding, and luckily very comfortable with the fact that I was in a same sex relationship using donor sperm. That was something I did worry about, but I guess it’s becoming more and more “normal” as time goes on.
Explained what was going on to the doctor, and showed him my charts. He agreed with me that it looks like I’m not ovulating at the moment. He suspects PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome). He got me booked in for blood tests next cycle (four of them… on four different days) to determine whether I am or am not ovulating, and then explained what the next steps would be. If I am ovulating he would let us give it three months and then refer us for a lap and dye to check if my tubes are open. If I’m not, then it would be clomid for three months before a lap and dye.
I’m quite glad to have started the process for getting answers. The PCOS thing doesn’t bother me too much as I know there are ways to conceive with PCOS and things that are much worse, so I’m willing to give it a shot if it turns out PCOS is what is happening in there.
We have a new plan for the next few months anyhow, so will go ahead with that. It doesn’t involve a different insemination method or donor, it’s just a way to give my body a break for a few months, ready to start afresh after New York.
